1998 orafice tube location?
1998 orafice tube location?
Hey gang,
I have a 1998 3 door extended cab, 4.6 liter Windsor, with a manual tranny. The A/C clutch went out and a few months later it locked up and snapped the belt. I had AAA put it in the driveway so that I could jack it up and replace the compressor. I pulled the compressor and accumulator pumped flush into the openings and blew them out until it appeared to be clean and dry on a shop rag with my air compressor. I replaced oil in the new A/C compressor and accumulator per the instrucions in Chilton's manual and installed them. Now I need to install the new orafice tube. The manual says it is in the inlet to the evaporator or high pressure line from the condensor. Can anyone tell me where I can locate this little pest for sure? One requires pulling the instrument cluster while the other seems considerably easier. I am hoping it is in the condensor line but either way I would rather not guess and possibly double the work. Also, is there anything else any of you can think of that I need to do prior to evacuating the system, recharging and getting my truck back on the road? Thaks for your help.
