A/C goes warm
Mine was also doing the " hot-cold, hot-cold" but I was low on freon due to a leak in my high pressure line running to the condensor. About 6" back from where the high pressure and low pressure couple to the condensor, the low pressure line has a black sleeve around it and had rubbed a small pin hole into the side of the high pressure line (right where it offsets). I cut out the bad spot and I'm going to get a high pressure hose from NAPA to replace the bad section.
Final update.....Ok, the new actuator came in, I installed it and it works like a champ. I now have nice cold air conditioning without the warm and hot moments. I took my old actuator apart and plugged it in to see what was happening, for some reason the motor would rotate the blend door properly when placed on heat (red) but when the blend **** was moved to cold (blue) the motor would move the door but then would float back and forth at random times. I do not know if the motor gears were stripped, the actual gears that rotate the door that I thought may have been stripped at the distal ends were fine. So, the short of it is this. If you have the problem of your air conditioning going cold, then warm or hot and back to cold then this could be your problem. Total cost $49. First however I agree with the others. Check your refrigerant levels. Secondly, I would replace the actuator motor. Lastly, I would suspect a broken blend door. Going about it in this order is logical and goes from least expensive to most expensive. I purchased a new blend door first $120. Only to find I didn't need one, I installed it anyway. This allowed me to find that the actuator wasn't turning the blend door properly. So, I am not too disappointed. Sorry so long, it is an easy fix, no dash removal necessary, only removing some things underneath. Good luck.
