no heat?
no heat?
03 supercrew
just bought it. whole way home the heat worked great. i actuall had to turn the fan AND temp down because it was so hot it was putting me to sleep.
i get in this morning and i left it on defrost on the way to work.. so im not sure if it got hot.. i know the engine temp got hot, and it defrosted my window, but i didnt physically feel the air at all.
it was -10 this morning.
on the way home from pt just now the motor warmed up, so i threw it on vent, but it was cold as ice. i was really mad lol. what should i check for?
edit++++++++++++++++++++++=
just read this - http://www.fordf150.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=65144
seems like the blend doors are vacum actuated like on my old jeep. i was already in the driveway when i put it on vent. when i go back to work im going to try it while driving to see if it changes anything.
im also going to put it on all the settings to see if any other settings are getting through the heater core..
to be continued..
it wasnt on ac
the temp was all the way on hot, i even tried adjusting it a little
motor temp was where it should be
as far as i know the coolant is still full. i have checked all fluids once a day for the two days ive owned it so far.
thanks

ok im at work now. it took it a while to fully warm up on the way in, but once it did it blew hot as hell.
once i got parked it went back down to cold as hell.
so im thinking its a vaccum line as described in the link in my previous post.
any ideas?

just found this info also on another forum
"I''m by no means an expert when it comes to expys but, my 99 F150 had the same problem. I noticed mine this summer when the a/c was blowing really warm air, then when it turned cold the heater wasn''t warm enough. It was the temp control swich on the dash. I found out that if you turned it back and forth between hot and cold rapidly several times and stopped on either hot *or* cold it would change to that setting. The switch is a dealer item cost less than $15.00. Motorcraft calls it a damper door switch, Ford calls it a potentiometer. Takes about 10 minutes to replace.
The damper door opens and shuts with a little motor. I hope this helps.

so im gonna try turning it back and forth rapidly does anything. hopefully thats all it is.
hate to keep talking to myself, but i want to log all this information so the next guy can find it in a search.

is this forum really this slow in the supercrew section? i might have to seek out another forum with a little more action.
hopefully someone will offer some kind of help or advice.. lol
so the problem seems intermittent for now.
coolant level is fine.
yesterday on the ride home the heat worked the whole way.
one thing i am noticing is the heat seems to warm up alot faster than the truck itself.
so this morning this is what happened.. i started the truck and let it idle about 5 minutes before i left for the ruck march this morning at 5. the heat worked fine on the way to work.
at 8 when i was driving home from the march, the heat worked fine, until i turned into my street. it cut off. it was blowing fine, just not hot.
so on my way back to work at 9 it worked fine, but wasnt as hot as usual- it usually is so hot it feels like its burning your hand if you hold it close to the vent.- so once i parked it i let it get down to idle, and it got less hot.
revved up the idle to about 1700 and let it stay there- it got hot again.
so anyone got any ideas?
heater core?
thermostat?
and just one more note... when the heat is working this thing gets HOT! like, oh crap lemme turn that down - hot. its -10f here in the mornings so you would think i would be driving with it on full blast, but no it gets hot as hell. cant stress that enough.
im going to ask mods to move this post to the HVAC section because i think it should have been posted over there...
thanks
