Question bypass a/c compressor

i have a question about my 1988 ford f150 single cab ext. bed auto 4x4 5.0L V8 FI OHV dual gas tank. the power i would get (horse power/tourqe) if i take out the whole a/c unit from my truck (or atleast bypass the com.), would it make a difrence? would i save money on gas? i have been thinking about it but always asked is it worth it!? i was also willing to do this with the combination of an electric fan. take back some "robbed" power from the engine. but at the end the question still is... is it worth it?

I have heard that it takes nothing away from the engine when it is off, but I would think that maybe 1-2 HP may be gained back MAYBE if at all any?
I mean, the weight of taking it out would be better gains...
I would DEF. leave heat in though
I heard one guy say the entire HVAC on the old body styles was I think he said like 40-50 lb.s
I would say that it isn't really worth it.
