Heater Core Bypass--98 F150 4.6L

My guess is that my heater core went bad and is leaking. Smells like antifreeze coming out of the vents. I did not want to remove the dash and try to tackle this project. I live in Texas and only use the heater about one month out of the year. I went ahead and bypassed the heater core. The hoses that run from the engine into the firewall are two different sizes (5/8 and 3/4 in). I removed the 3/4 inch hose from the engine and left it hanging from the fire wall. I then cut the 5/8 inch hose from the engine and squeezed it on the 3/4 inch housing.

My question is, do you think the 5/8 inch hose squeezed on the 3/4 inch housing will compromise the integrity of the hose. It seemed to fit pretty well. Thanks.

Over time, there may be a possibility that the stretching of the 5/8ths hose will fatigue around the bend and split. But as long as it remains supple and doesn't dry out, I think you would be fine.
