"Growling Sound" when on "Auto"

It has taken me almost a year, but I figured out where this "growling" noise was coming from in the dash. When on "AUTO" and lowereing the thermostat (71 yesterday), I get a 2-3 second growling noise. It is obviously once the thermostat hits a certain cut-off point while lowering the temp. on the "Auto" setting of the HVAC.

Any ideas what that it is? Is it a potential problem? Anyone else have this problem?

FYI: 2006 Lariat SuperCrew 4x4

Mine's been doing it for over 10,000miles. See if yours makes the noise when changing from defrost to floor or visa versa. I'm guessing it's some sort of mechanical door that redirects airflow. Hope this helps.

Waiting for parts

I too have this problem mine has gotten to the point where it sticks and i cook or freeze depends on its mood. The dealer has ordered parts (blend motor and a bunch of other stuff) but some are back ordered so i figure they got the right stuff. They have 5 others at my dealer ship with the issue from 2006 up. My tuck only had 5000kms when it started. Will post if the parts ever show up.

Thanks
Josh

Sorry for the ignorance...but what does "Tsb 08-8-9" mean? Is this a recall # or something? Again, sorry for the dumb question

Take it to the dealer tell them the problem and reference TSB 08-8-9. There is a fix for this. If anyone needs a copy of it I can email.

TSB - Technical Service Bulletin & date issued

TSB's are sent to the dealerships to make them aware of known problem and tells them how to address it. Don't confuse a TSB w/a recall. Two different things.

Sounds like a sticking blend door. Or something in the squirrel cage. But that would be constant. I think the blend doors on these things are vacuum motors.
So if they are sticky it might take a few seconds for them to open or close, and this would produce the "grinding" noise as the gears in the vacuum motor try to turn.
Basically, blocked vacuum hoses in dash.
That's my guess.
