temperature of air in "vent" setting ???

I've noticed that like others, my AC doesn't seem to get as cold as it should. On a whim, I've noticed that when the temp control is set to cold, and the other selector is set to "vent" (NO AC) just outside air, the air coming in feels noticeably warmer than the outside air.

Now some of this is subjective I realize. What I feel outside with my hand feels cooler due to convective cooling. But, the air coming from the vent is warmer than it should be. If I turn it to hot, then it gets appropriately hotter.

Just wondering about other's experiences. On vent setting, is the air a little warmer than outside, perhaps due to the heat soak of the chamber and innerds of the truck sitting in the sun, or should it come out the same temp as outside after a minute or two???

I can see the blend door up behind the glove box and a can hear the quiet hum of the gears turning the door. Nothing sounds broken (I've fixed the rear door and I know what that sounds like - thumpthumpthump).

When the dash blend door fails, is it more typically that it won't go to full adjusstment?

thanks for your help.

The heater core is sitting in there with 195F-210F coolant in it. There is going to be heat transferred to the air even when the blend door is completely closed.

You'll likely never see ambient air temp making it through the plenum once the engine is at operating temp.

that is the answer

I was hoping to hear!

I'd like to be able to change the vacuum setting on the valve on the heater line and turn off the valve like it does in Max setting.

another "design improvement" yet to be done
