AUTO setting on AC and Heater malfunction???
I have a 2007 F150 SCrew. I am looking for advice from others who may have experienced this problem. My Auto A/C Heater has always worked great, but now it seems the setting of "70" isn't always working properly. Occasionally I will have to turn the temp setting to 80 to get the heat to come on, then I can back down to 70. Sometimes at 70, the heat gets too hot, and I have to lower to 65 or 60 to get it to cool off, then back to 70. It seems as if now it's either FULL HOT or FULL COLD with no in between. I can't seem to find out why. Is this the "blend door issue" as others have had? Thanks for your advice.
auto climate control
I am having the same problem with my 07
.. Dealer said it all checked out good, I went off on them pretty good, I have had towncars with the auto control since 1985, so I know it is not right!! Mine worked well for the 1st 5 months, seems to not be blending properly. I told them to keep it untill they replaced something, have a manager envolved now. Seems that they let it sit all day in the shop so everything is shop temp then test it.. I just drove from AZ to Wisconsin and had to keep adjusting from 65 to 75 to stay confortable, worse than not having the Auto system...
I will post more if they fix it, good luck!

Climate control - Can't be verified so it isn't a problem..
Guess I must be an idiot!! The service writer / tech can't verify the problem so it does not exist!! I have been buying new Fords since 1972, try to be loyal to an american brand, just have to fight too hard with every warantee issue I have ever had, I think my next truck might be a Toyota!!
While mine seems to work normally, did that broken gear ever give you a 2 second growling noise as you reached a certain temp.? Perhaps the temp. that caused the shutoff or blend?
The "growling" in my truck is still there. I actually didn't even ask them to check that out. It seems to happen if you change from defrost to floor or some other setting. If you turn the system off and then back on, it also causes that growling sound. I figured it was just a mechanism to reroute the airflow. I've never had any trouble from it, and mine has done it for over 10,000miles now.
The growling sound is the "plenum" door opening and closing. They need to tear the entire dash apart to fix it. At least that is what I was told by the service tech. I figured they could do more harm than good tearing all that apart so I figured I'd live with it. It doesn't seem to hurt anything, yet.

Here's another HVAC update: So after nearly one year, my same issue returned with the heat stuck in "hot only" or "cold only" with no in between settings. 70 degrees on Auto would flat roast your buns on a 20 degree Winter day. So after taking it back to the dealer, they decided to replace the entire heater core/box under the passenger dash. The truck was in the shop for 3 days. All is well for now...hope this issue is fully resolved!
