Make your AC colder

I have seen plenty of complaints on these Truck's AC's not running cool enough. I know right now is not the time to think about your AC, but came across this product, thought I'd share.

Ya, I have heard a couple guys on this site make the same complaint. i was sitting on the "throne" readin through my recent Moss mag, saw that and figured I'd post it up. Seems like it would help a little bit. Not sure how "worth it" it would be.

Exactly as built said, the increased airflow across your condenser, especially at low speeds makes the heat transfer much greater than with a mechanical fan, makes your A/C arctic cold!

When the engine is off, Using your finger try to spin the Big Fan at the back of the radiator. It should be fixed, If you can spin the fan replaced your fan clutch. I hope this helps.

I also have the same problem before and I tried almost all R134A available in the market.

why not this fan?

Hi,

First post, found this site looking for info on HVAC systems.

Anywho, why not put one of these fans in:

Wouldn't that do the same thing?

Hmmm, that's strange. I have tried mine to make sure it worked when I bought it but haven't had to use it yet. However I test drove one in June of 2005 in Texas and I was amazed at how cold the A/C was. After my test drive my knuckles were frozen. I wonder if they go out quickly or something. I may have to look into this when I get back to Texas this summer.

Personally, mine is plenty cold. Lots of people on here complain about it tho. I found that, and thought I'd share.

The biggest probelm is, new from the factory, they generally are running a little low on the freon. Save Ford a couple bucks !

Our 2006 F-150 (the white one that fades out in the signature graphic) was cold as ice from the beginning... It also helped that we had good reflective window tint and ventshades to help block out radiant heat from the sun... but we would freeze out...

ON the other hand...

My "new" yet-used 2008 Expedition I just traded it in for has already been in the shop twice since we purchased it to get the A/C checked out... turns out it was the compressor, condensing unit, seals were leaking... and then the switch wouldn't change speeds... so they put in a new resistor block and the entire panel you see (the "a/c control head" according to the service advisor... ) They'll have done over $2000 worth of work when it is all totaled.

The only redeeming factors in all of this headache is that it was under warranty... and it hasn't been over 72 degrees since we bought it...

And man, I hope it never breaks down again!

It's forecast to be 84 here by Thursday!

I have a mechanic neighbor who has a very nice set of automotive A/C guages and had him check my '07. It was a little low so he added just a bit to get it up to 38. I've read that it is a safe pressure and is about 4 psi more than my truck had from the factory. It was a bit low from the factory which seems to be common. I haven't had the truck for any hot weather yet but after reading all the complaints on here I decided to check out at least the refridegrant.

Don't go just adding refridgerant without checking the system pressure...too much is alot worse than too little and can damage your A/C system.

I'm sure most of us do this during the cold months but it is a good idea to run the defrost or panel/floor settings often (which also run the A/C system) to keep the system lubricated.
