Temperature Control Assembly

My question is about a 1999 F150, I hope you can help. My heater control dial will not adjust the temperature. It sticks in one place, in the past after twisting the dial back and forth I could get it to move. Now it will not move. If it I turn it, it wants to snap back into its original position like its not moving what's behind it.

Is it difficult to replace this assembly?

The blend door is on the other end, probably broke. Do a search on blend door repair. It is a challenge to repair but not impossible.

The blend door is not mechanically connected to the ****.

Sounds more like either a stripped **** or the temperature control itself has failed mechanically.

I just bought a 99 and have the same problem. The **** is broken and will not turn the shaft under it. I removed the **** and sprayed some lub on the shaft and it turns easier now, but the **** is still broken. It will work for a little while. Give this a try and see if it helps. Good luck. Mike

icy hose

Hi there! I have a 1999 xlt v6 engine. The cooling system is working just fine my problem is when I opened my hood, I just found out that the metal hose on the top portion of the engine and near the battery is icy. I'm from the Philippines and considering our hot climate, I dont use the heater. When I had this problem, I just put a temporary Thermostat to shutdown the compressor if it produces ice on the metal hose. I think the thermostatthat I put is not working anymore.

Would you know what the real problem is?

Thanks and Goodday to you all!!

Barry

Sounds like the air conditioning system. Generally, Ford refers to the "cooling system" as what circulates/controls the anti-freeze (radiator, pump, thermostat, hoses, etc).

It's just frost from the humidity in the air.

The moisture condensed on the cold refrigerant line and froze, probably due to either a low charge or a pressure cycling switch that has been bypassed or has stuck closed.

I'd start by checking the pressure cycling switch and the refrigerant charge.

It screws into the top of the accumulator which is on the firewall next to the mega-fuse and starter relay panel. Remove that cover to see if better.
