98 heater BDA and BDP Problems
Hi all,
I’ve been searching the threads for a few days now and I am unable to find anyone who has had this problem.
I have a 98 Expedition. Pretty much the same as a F150 from the dash to the front bumper.
I replaced the heater core without a problem. I inspected the blend door and it didn’t have any cracks for abnormal wear, so I did not replace it. As I was putting the dash back together, I noticed that the blend door did not move.
The #5 fuse is good and the blend door actuator is getting power. So I went ahead and dropped $65 for a new BDA. This did not solve the problem. Since the BDA doesn’t need to be installed for it to work, I left it lying on the carpet and plugged it in and I noticed that the motor gets very warm after about 15 min. I cant’ tell if the original BDA gets warm because it is still installed under the dash.
So I dropped $15 for a new blend door potentiometer and installed it. This did not solve the problem either. I checked the wiring harness as best as I could and I did not see any breaks or cuts.
Does anyone have any idea where I might be missing something? Another fuse not listed in the book, another part?
Another note, I read a thread somewhere here or on another site that the BDA has two power wires. My simple probe only shows power to one of the five wires going to the BDA.
Thanks!
