A/C Clutch fell off!!!

My wife calls and tells me the A/C isnt working. I found the clutch hub sitting on the frame but the rest is gone! I believe the seal is still intact and I dont see any damage to the rest of the comressor. I was wondering if I could just replace the clutch assembly. Looks like the center bolt holding it all together just came out.

I have 150,000 on my 2004 FX4. So I guess this is where the parts start to fall off!

Thanks for the help. I love this site!!

If the system still has freon pressure, I would think that in the absence of damage - grab another clutch and go.

I would put some gages on the system and take a read. If the system is low or out of 134A the shaft seal could be the problem even though it looks ok.

Sounds like the bolt just worked its way out (wasn't tightened properly) and fell out.

I'd go with #2 above.
