Too much 134A??

I have a 1994 f150 and the compressor keeps kicking on and off, i bought a can of 134, the can came with a cheap gauge and it read that I had too much 134a. Could this cause the compressor to kick on and off???

Still not cooling down good!

Thanks in advance!

That cheapo gauge is for checking WHILE the compressor is running, and it doesn't tell you how MUCH refrigerant you have - it only tells you how much PRESSURE the compressor is making. If it shows too high of pressure at the port in the R rear of the engine bay while the compressor is running, and then the compressor shuts off, you have big problems. Get a pro to check it out & fix it.

If the pressure comes down to normal, then goes below, and THEN the compressor stops, you can add a can of refrigerant yourself to see if it starts working right.

Actually, those low-side-only gauges DONT tell you how much pressure the compressor is making, they read how much SUCTION the compressor can pull based on the existing charge.

Short-cycling compressors are almost always due to an undercharge which means a leak that must be repaired.

walmart (chinese) parts won't make you an AC mechanic.

Take it to a Professional AC shop.
