1986 air compressor does not come on. Must be some fuses, but where.

 

Sounds like the system has a low charge, there's a pressure cutoff switch that shuts down the compressor to prevent it from burning up. Look for signs of a leak at the A/C fittings. You'll see an oily residue (probably caked with dirt) that's a sure sign the refrigerant has leaked out.

 

And by the looks of it, you have the R-12 old stuff, I think you can get it still but where? and how much??? I'll bet it's just low on juice too.

 

There is some oily residue on a fitting. I will take it in and have it recharged. Thanks

 

Have it professionally converted to R-134a. It'll cost less now, & be easier to maintain later.
