How to remove cold fluid line?

1990 F150 5.0L

Anyone know how to remove the cold fluid line that runs between the evaporator and condensor. It has the funky saucer shaped connector near the evaportor and a threaded end on the condensor side. Looks like it may take a special tool.

Mine unfortunately has ruptured and leaked out my R12 (sorry EPA).

Thanks

Yep - it's the same type connector that is used on the fuel lines. Even the cheap kits have several sizes, so you can find the one that matches. The connector uses a coil spring that looks a lot like the spring in a retractable ball point pen, only with the ends connected. The tool slides in to the opening and spreads the spring so you can pull the ends apart. Unless you are a mechanic, I doubt that you will ever wear out one of these tools, so just buy the cheaper (plastic) kit.

Excellent, thanks guys!

Now I need to find a replacement line. The one I have is ruptured and leaked all my R12. Lucky I know someone that has 50 lbs of R12.

Every line I find has two threaded couplings on it. I haven't found one with the funky connector yet. I'll keep calling around, someone certainly must have one.

thanks again.
