Air Conditioning Question....

today i was running my a/c and i noticed some thin white smoke was coming out...what could it be...it wasnt thick at all and didnt fill my truck up but i just noticed it coming out of the vents...thanks for your help...

Its nothing harmful to you except for your back pocket. You are having some performance problems that could just be the orifice tube not working correctly. I would have some gauges put on the a/c system to see whats up before Texas gets too hot.

Probably a refrigerant leak over the winter has left you with a low charge, causing too low of temperature in the evaporator, which produces ice/fog. Get a pro to check the pressures & find the leak.

Ford puts UV dye in all their vehicles at the factory, so don't let them charge you for adding any. Ford actually has a TSB out advising AGAINST additional dye.

today i drove my truck and had the a/c goin and no smoke came out and it felt normal...i guess whatever it was went away...but thanks for your help anyways...if it happens again i will take it in to the dealer to get it looked out...i have the extended warranty so atleast its covered...

Low feron will not cause ice over on r134 feron but a bad cycling switch can. Was probally just a real humid day and what you seen was equal to breathing in real cold air just in reverse. If it does it again check around the vents and see if they are wet. If its blowing cold I would not worry to much about it. Do you by chance ride with the ac on and a window cracked or open?
