temp problems

i have 2 problems that may or may not be related. in my '04 150 lariat the outside temp gauge went crazy reading temps in the high 90's when the outside temp is stillin the 20's. at the same time I also found that the climate control temp is way off temp. i still get heat and a/c but only the extremes.

example is I have to set at 80 before I get any heat at all. previous I was set at 70 on the climate control and leave it alone...

What could possibly bemy problem and are they related??

please help or suggest

The temp sensor is under the hood. Mine is in front of the radiator.
Looks like a small block, about the size of your thumb. It ain't cheap, either. Do a web search on the site,I believe someone posted troubleshooting info. Good luck.
