Angry Heater Core (Navigator)

Unless you know and are ready to make your vehicle look like it just got out of a junkyard or ready to put it there. Do not even remotely attempt this .
I pulled directions from this site (it was nice) read it several highlighted areas after printing them out.

For me there was a center console that was a pain in the a** to get out. Not covered

Removal of the heater core think about this before starting open the hood and try to touch the firewall where the lines come out from in the car to the engine. Not really covered from in the engine. Not fun.

If your wife or family sees what you are doing to the family car your screwed.

My little son walked up to me pissed off (What did you do to Mommy's car?) And punched me in the stomache as though I planned on all this grief. Four year old kid.

I followed directions there were soo many extra screws to take out.

Let me tell you you pulling the dash partly out accessing from the passenger side Good Luck ! A pain in the a** to get to the core and remember there is
a big black box with the heater core one for the rear and one for the front. Not to mention AC lines
I cannot even take this car to the dealer like this. No way! Iam going to Craigslist and getting someone good to finish this. I am mechanically inclined, but this is extreme. 1 to 5 meaning hard a 5
My skills 1 to 10 scale 4.5 automotively. I have tons of parts and screws.
If you are can take engines in and out or tranmissions kill yourself and do it. It is a very hard test.
Otherwise pay someone and don't even look at how he is doing it. Spend time with family or go to the bar.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO THE NAVIGATOR HEATER CORE. ITS WORTH THE MONEY TO GET IT DONE BY A SHOP. TO MANY THINGS CAN COME AND HAUNT YOU IF NOT PUT BACK CORRECTLY.

I have had a spark plug blow out and had to get it hellicoiled.
I purchased a power train warranty. THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT.

Fords make there money on Heater cores and I thought it was just the Ford Taurus. And the spark plug situation. Please purchase the best heater core possible. I can see where Ford screws you on labor. Do I need to worry about some blend door as well. Damn Ford. This site has soo many issues with there cars.
You would think Ford is registered here and monitors to remedy a majority of these situations.

I have a positive attitude this almost made me want to cry in private. Do not do this. I am not done steering wheel is laying on the ground I feel like pushing it down the street and calling the police and saying someone stole it and stripped it. Hell the heater core is still in there.

I do not here about Toyota heater cores. Always Japanese from now on. If that was offensive then CHEVY.

From: Georgia on my mind...
I don't suppose you're somewhere in Georgia/Alabama, are you? Depending on where you are, I'd be willing to help. Or shoot me an E-mail and I'll try to walk you through the finer points of the job best I can.

Cool

Thanks! I appreciate that! What a place to put something that goes out. I am in North California
Ford knows this with the Taurus. When you spend good money on a higher end vehicles these problems should be addressed.
I just think with all that work on removing this other problems can develop. I won't look at this vehicle the same. To top it off there are two heater cores .
And something about some door flap also. And wait approx $120 heater core from Monument Car Parts. No way am I going to Kragen or Auto Zone for a part that will not last but its the labor soo labor intensive I was quotoed by dealer 1200 plus.
I see why. But Why! Ok I sound like an old lady. When I spend good money, I expect a good product. I only have 134k. My corrola went 380k only clutch jobs and normal maint. 89 Toyota SR5 went 260 k problems developed still SR5 sold for over 2k. Next time Toyota Sequoia OR Chevy They run run run

Quintin Thanks Again! I am just so upset got mobile guys coming tommoorow will update nightmare.

Ok! I had almost everthing out. Which I think was already more than those steps I downloaded from this site. Took an additional 6 1/2 hours.

Once you complete the first half of the steps. Taking the heater core out is a helluva job because you have to go under the hood in a Navigator it is a Nightmare. Tech said this is the hardest he has ever seen and for most mechanics the difficulty level would have been too high for them.

Although he has to come back dark and cold outside due to shifter not shifting smoothly and properly some nut that a cable goes through under steering column fell down and got to find where that goes.
