Hot vent/AC
Hot vent/AC
My 2001 F150 is blowing hot air via either the vent or AC. Turning the temp **** makes no difference. I can hear the compressor kick on when put on AC, but just blows hot air. I've been reading several threads on blend door replacement, but not sure if that's the problem. I think the vacuum is good since I can change from floor to vent. So I wonder if it's something with the temp selector or possibly a freon (or whatever is being used these days) leak?
If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, I would very much like to hear them.
Thanks
PS - This is a great site! I've saved several hundred dollars with fixes I found here.

BLEND DOOR MOTOR IS KAPUT, almost guaranteed. Mine did the same thing, not bad to be full heat in winter but a problem none the less. It just sounds too much the same as mine. A couple hours labor and 70 bucks for parts and you're set. Wayyyy too common on these ol' trucks.
Before reaching any such assumption, it would be a good idea to inspect the temperature control ****. The **** tends to split and slip.
If the **** is okay, it's far more likely that the blend door itself has failed rather than the control motor. Blend door replacement requires dash removal and is an expensive repair.
