How long to get warm????
Hey guys, I'm new to this generation of ford trucks, last one i had was an 89 f150 now my 89 expedition is telling me it doesn't like to warm up,, for the past few weeks it has been chilly here, and it seems that it takes the truck at least 45 minutes to an hour to warm up and give good heat,,, any suggestions,,, or do the 4.6's just like to run cold,, the temp guage is registering, about 1/3 way up.
sounds like you may have a bad thermostat. B.c my truck warms up to normal operating temp within 5 minutes on a cold morning (like 25-40*) warmer days like 65+ it warms up in about 1/2 mile of driving, so like 2 min....
and my normal is usually right at halfway mark on the temp.
my bet is your tstat is stuck open, and your truck is trying to heat all the coolant, instead of just heating what is in the block first.
EDIT and do you mean your 99 expy??

I'ma Idiot,lol
Well actually i mean a 98 expy,, i can't type, thats why i'm no secratary, lol thanks for the info,,, i was wondering if it might be the therm. i actually thought someone had taken it out, never know till i get in there,,:santa:
a stuck open Tstat will act the same as no Tstat. problem is you may have overheating problems once you swing back around to warmer weather.... b.c sometimes people will take the Tstat out to help the truck stay cooler. But as you probably know, if it never warms up the computer keeps dumping extra fuel to try to get it to warm up, so you loose significant mpg.
