Blend Door Temporary Fix

Can the Blend Door Motor be deactivated (unplug wiring) without removing the entire dash? In a couple of threads that I have read it was mentioned when the motor was disconnected, the door moved into the heater position. I need heat and don't have time for a complete fix over the next few weeks.
