What brnd Heater core to buy? Please help
What brand Heater core to buy? Please help
I have searched thru the endless heater core threads to only find that i shouldnt use a factory replacement. I looked at what the local part store offers and I have to choose from a Ready-Aire heater core and a Four-Seasons heater core. The four season one mentions that is made of copper/brass, but the ready-aire doesnt say!
I have also come to conclude that heater core failure is due primarily to electrolosys, that being said, a ladyh at the part store told me to run a ground strap from the HC to the chasis. I have read on here that is not a good thing to do. Are the engine ground straps enough to prevent this?
Once the system has been completly flushed and promperly refilled, and the Ph level is still not correct, what needs to be done?
Thanks goes out to anyone who can provide me wityh some answers and or personal experiences with the products mentioned!!!!

Electrolytic (rust) cleaning is, in most cases, not suitable for non-ferrous metals such as copper, bronze, brass, pewter, tin or aluminium. The corrosion products found on these metals is rarely formed by electrolytic action and therefore the process cannot be reversed electrolytically. In the case of copper and tin alloys the treatment would be harmless, although aluminium could be adversely affected and so should not be subjected to this treatment. Consult a chemist for more info on this.
Dont know if yours is like this or not: On the older F-150s (around 1989) HC replacement is easy - just take off the 2 hoses under the hood against the fire wall, go inside cab take off glove box lid, take off cover plate and temperature control cable.
Just flush out cooling system, swap out HC, and add plenty of GUNK Radiator Anti-Rust with Water Pump Lube (Part #C10-12) to your cooling system and you should not have any more problems.
