Hey guys,
I own a 1999 Ford Expedition. I recently have noticed the smell of Antifreeze coming from my air vents when the A/C is on it is horrible. All of the reading I have done points to a leaking heater core. Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to replace this in my SUV. I am a DIY and hope I can tackle it to save the few hundred bucks. Any help instructions or advice would be greatly appreciated. You may e-mail me at cmdallm@bellsouth.net
Thanks,
Chris

Here's a couple threads I did a while back with quick and dirty heater core/blend door replacement.

I done my first heater core replacement oin my 99 expediton with 5.4L . It took me 7 hours and when all was said and done it resulted in one left over screw and a working non leaking heater with no flawes or rattles in the dash. The best thing I have found on this is a youtueb video that I found. It is absolutely perfect and most accurate. The center console can be tough, get tougher and it will break loose with just removine the four main bolts. See video.

Ok... I think I have a hole in my heater core (1998 Exp 4x4 5.4). Smell of antifreeze out of the vent when the AC is on and noticed coolant leaking from what appears to be the condensate line underneath the passenger side of vehicle. I just want a little confirmation from someone here before I go through the laborious task of tearing the dash apart.
Also, is it even worth buying some of that crap you put in your radiator to fix leaks? My gut says don't do it but figure I should ask anyway.
THANKS!!! AWESOME posts on this issue btw. Very well done!!!
