What are the signs the compressor is going ??

Hi Guys...

The A/C in my truck is taking long to get cool. if Im just standing is even longer but it finally does get cold. I took it to a place and the guy told me the comp is going, to just wait till it finally goes and get a replacement. Not really knowing if this is true of just a way of getting me in a jam $$$. can someone chime in, and give me some pointers to look at or something to go on so im working from knowledge not ignorance..
thanks..

This guy's a quack. Take it somewhere else.

The only way to tell for certain if a compressor is weak is to charge the system with a known weight of refrigerant and monitor system pressures while doing so.

A set of guages in mandatory when diagnosing A/C performance issues.
