When I start the truck, turn the A/C on, I can hear the e-fans kick on, but turn on for a second, then longer then longer. I have the compressor signal wire tapped for the fans to kick on when the clutch engages. Now, does the clutch cycle longer as time passes, or should it be the same amount of time on every cycle? I've never noticed because the compressor isn't loud, now I can because the e-fans are. Also, it sounds like the clutch has a squeel or squeek until it warms up a bit, what's the deal? Basically, how do I tell when the clutch or compressor is kaput? Thanks in advance.

The compressor clutch is controlled by the computer based on operator input, current operting paramneters, and the laws of thermodynamics.
Selecting that signal as the switching means for the e-fans is not a good idea....

It seems logical to have the fans come on a regular cycle, especially in traffic etc. I've noticed that the fans kicking on makes for colder air. See, I'm not an HVAC guy at all, just noticing weird things compared to last year. Sometimes they are so slight, you can't tell what caused it. Wasn't sure if the compressor or clutch were about to dirt nap, or if a recharge is needed??? Can't see anywhere a leak.
Seems logical to have the fans come on, for air to come through the condenser. How is it that most cars from the factory have the fans on as soon as the A/C or defrost are turned on, but the fans stay on? That would be a cool trick.
I'm actually going to start a new thread about the FAL fans and how everyone sets them up in conjunction with the A/C.

Wiring the e-fan to the compressor flutch will only engage the fan when the compressor clutch is energized.
This does not account for rest of the time the the compressor is NOT engaged but the radiator still requires airflow for proper engine coolant heat transfer.
The e-fan should operate: 1)when ever the A/C compressor is running AND 2) whenever the coolant temperature rises above a specific point, usually around 210F.
Vehicles that are factory-equipped with electric cooling fans have them controlled by the vehicle's computer based primarily on input from the ECT or CHT sensor.

You got it, now it doesn't sound stupid, on off all the damn time. The fans seem to run a bit faster when the engine temp kicks them on plus the compressor kicks on. Everything is A OK now.
