Air Con flow-return lines

Hi Guys

Just getting ready to install new engine & transmission into my 03 'L'
At the bulkhead to the left as you sit on cross member where engine should be there are two pipes for the AC system entering the bulkhead.
On these pipes there are swaged type fittings with black clamps around them.
The top larger pipe has a metal clamp and the lower pipe has a plastic clamp.

These appear to be some form of flex coupling or joint, however between the black clamps and the bulkhead you have about 2" of pipe showing.
Located on each pipe is a loose white plastic ring.
Has this come adrift from the clamp?

The plastic clamp on the lower pipe can be removed easily.
And both pipes can flex at this joint.

I ask because when engine and blower is installed there is limited access.
I may have moved this pipe when I lifted out the engine but do not seem to have leakage.
Once everything is installed I will have system re-charged but any repair if it's leaking will be a PITA.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Are the fittings the spring lock fittings?
That white plastic ring is normally there.

The joints should be ab;e to rotate also.

Yes I think they are.
I may have a leak on the small pipe which I think is the HP line as it may have got caught when I lifted out the engine, but not leaking now and system has pressure.
A mate confirmed that his truck has those loose white rings too.
Cant see what the clamps are supposed to do are they are easly removed.
Will have system re-charged when rebuild is completed anyway.

Just a PITA to get at if a repair is required.
