Bad compressor?

My compressor on my 98 F150 isn't kicking in at all. I've had the system fully charged, and tested the plug on the compressor and it has power with the air turned on.The clutch does turn freely. Does this mean the compreesor motor is shot?

Did you charge the system or did a shop? The compressor would have to run in order to charge the system, so I'd assume the problem just started or is intermittent.

With the A/C on, try tapping on the clutch face or pushing it in with a screwdriver. If the clutch engages, then you need to adjust the air gap or replace the clutch assembly.

The shop recharged the system, and also told me that the compressor wasn't kicking in, so I don't know how they charged it if it has to be working to do so. I'll try tapping it & see what happens.
