Question Stupid AC won't even come on :(

It got hot today and I was talking on the phone so I thought I would roll up the windows and crank the AC for the first time in about 5 months. Hit the normal AC button and turn it on, hot air is blowing so I thought it needed a minute to get cold. It never did, I hit the max AC and still nothing, blowing hot *** air, no where near being cold.

Has this happened to anyone? I let it run for like 10 minutes thinking it might eventually kick on because it has been a while since I used it but nothing. Is there anything I can do? I hate wasting time and going back to the stupid dealer.

Thanks

With the engine running, have someone turn on the ac and see if the compressor clutch engages; if not, you may have a freon leak and, without enough of a freon charge, the system will not allow the compressor to engage.

You may also try turning on the defroster and turn the temp to "cold". Turning on the defroster is supposed to also engage the ac compressor. See if you get cold air; if not, get the system checked for leaks.

ac not working

if you tried everything else there is a connector on the top of your freon bottle thingy should be silver bottle on the passenger side of the truck under the hood, anyways there is a connector on top i the its called an ac acuator switch but if you pull the connector off and connect a jumper wire between the two pegs inside the connector on the ac freon bottle thingy (sorry) and have somewone turn on the max ac and check for cold air and it works the swith is bad on the freon holder bottle.ive heard they go bad often on the 04

It's a 2004:

1. It doesn't have Freon. Freon hasn't been used for at least 12 years.

2. It's under warranty. Just let the dealer screw with it.

Possible causes include inadequate refrigerant charge, or a fault in any one of the electrical components that regulate the operation of the system. There are pressure switches, relays, connectors, fuses, PCM, clutch, compressor, blend door, etc...

MAX A/C simply runs the system the same as NORMAL, except that it recirculates cabin air instead of drawing in outside air. Other than that, there is no difference is system operation.
