How come 97 - 99 Expy's with a sunroof didn't come with the rear air conditioner, but in 00 and up they did. What changed that they could do it 00 but not back then? Reason I ask is I want to install the rear A/C system in my 98 E.B. and I have a sunroof.

 

The demand wasn't there or Ford didn't want to pay for it before.

 

Going back in my memory, I believe the pre-2000's had quite a bit of wireing etc. routed above the headliner that interfered with the installation of the sun roof. Also the rear passenger controls were in the way. I know of some after market installations, and the controls for the rear were relocated. Starting in 2000 the rear controls, I believe are mounted on the rear of the console, I think, and the wireing is also run under the truck.
