Heater core quality issues
Hi,
I have been reading the heater core replacement sagas after doing a search. Is this problem limited to the 1997 and 1998 model, or is it just that these are those oldest existing models that have this heater core and the later models have an improved core? I have a 2000 F-150 and have to admit that this heater core business is a little troublesome to me.
The truck has been flawless for 38xxx miles, but I really don't want to have this issue hanging over my head. I replace the coolant and flush every 2 years, but am not sure that this is preventing the problem. Is there any way to avoid this problem? Thanks in advance for any help on this topic.

The guy who replaced mine for the second time in a year told me that there are two cores available: the std and the heavy duty, which is made of brass, although I never saw it before it went in. I did get the old one, and it was aluminum. I'm hoping this one lasts longer, but if it doesn't, I'm gonna have to assume electrolysis.
