I have read many of the core replacement posts and it seems that the difficult cores are after 1996. Is it easy to replace the core on a 1994. Is it just getting to the core behind the glovebox, removing screws and disconnecting the hoses?

Also, aftermarket or Ford? It seems that the aftermarket cores don't fit so well - true/false?

The factory heater cores fit much better. They are very easy to change. Just unscrew the cover, remove the hoses and change it. Don't forget to put foam around the heater core before you install it to help seal it to the box.
