Unhappy a/c troubleshoot???

thanks for the reply originally, have read all the posts and am not sure where to find the switches for the a/c to check/troubleshoot.
i understand there are high and low cut off switches, can you tell me how to locate them, and how to determine if they are bad?? also a little background, if any of you tech guys have time - what do these switches do and are their other controls that tell the system to "cool"???

thanks and be cool!! (i cant at the moment!!)

The low pressure switch is located on the accumulator towards the passenger's rear of the engine compartment, under the junction connectors. This switch is open when low side pressures are around 22-24 psi and closes at pressures higher than 40-45 psi, providing power to the field coil on the compressor. This is what cycles the A/C to keep the evaporator from freezing up.

The high pressure cut out switch is located between the compressor discharge side and the condenser. This one is normally closed and opens only with extreme discharge pressures.

In a nutshell, whenever the pressure switches are closed, power is supplied to the field coil on the compressor from the relay. First thing's first, disconnect the low pressure switch connector, it'll be on top of the accumulator, and jump the terminals with a paper clip while the engine is running with the A/C on to see if the compressor will engage. Then we can go from there.
