Question AC doesn't work with remote start?

Hopefully this is an easy fix...

I have a remote start in the truck, that works great, but if I start the truck remotely the AC does not come on, it just blows the vents. Is there anyway to make the AC work when I start the truck remotely or am I out of luck? I thought I have read this could be done.

The F150's have 2nd and 3rd ignition and accessory. You need to power one of these... Which I can't remember ... does it normally run with ign or acc? -test with your key position.

ign2... greyyellow
ign3..lt blue/pink

acc - red black
acc2 - black/green

another thing - did you install this yourself? You'll probably need another relay.

Hope I don't sound too patronizing -don't mean to!

I didn't do the install. I have a friend that took care of it for me. I think I could probably fix it myself, I just would need a list of items that i would need, and instructions on what to do.

Thanks for the reply.

The remote start needs to supply power to the "IGN2 - grey/yellow" wire from the ignition switch as frostby stated. This is the power lead that enables the HVAC system.

You would need to add another relay (if the remote system does not have an additional output) that parallels the relay that is currently supplying the RD/LG main power lead so that power is supplied to the GY/YE wire at the same time.

Actual specifics will be dependent on the exact starter you have.

projectSHO89 is right! Thank you; I couldn't remember the correct wire!

I'd try it something like this assuming you have a negative ign trigger from the alarm

85 - connect to alarm ign out (-)
86 - connect to +12 or together with 30

30 - connect to red/lt green in truck (12V+) constant
87 - connect to grey/yellow in truck
87a - not used

here's a link for a good relay to use
