Has anybody done a "mod" to prevent the compressor from comeing on in all modes besides panel, floor, or off ?

 

Sure, all you need to do is cut two wires on the AC panel plug, wire in a switch and a LED.
The switch will turn on/off the compressor in all modes. The LED lets you know it's on.
My Childons/Hayes manual has the schematic in back. It's the 12v wire coming in and the wire going out to the clutch relay.
