Does anyone know where the cabin air filter is and how to replace it?

Cabin Air Filter Location

Hey!
The "optional" Cabin Air Filter on the 2002's is located in the air box.
The air box is in the cab, on the passenger's side. Sit in the passenger front seat, legs extended, lift your right foot and you will be pointing at the location. i.e behind the glove box.
I installed mine and it is held in place with approx. 4-5 screws. Look for a rectanglar section of the air box, facing the floor, approx. 1.25 in. X 6 in.
I had to squeeze underneath the dashboard to do the install...

Hope it helps!

rmontad,
The first .jpg in your post shows the rectangular area where the cabin air filter installs.
In front of the fan, before the bottom/back of the glove box...the 1.25 -1.50 inch wide X 7 inch long rectangle.
THAT is where the cabin air filter kit from Ford is installed.
The recessed rectangular piece with extrusion nipples, in your .jpg, showing the plastic piece which is cut out and the cabin air filter slides up into the cabin air flow path. The formed plastic pieces on the perimeter of the rectangle, seemingly missing a screw, are what the kit mounts to...

The foam on the underside of your glove box I do not believe is the filter...My kit went into a 2002 and the air box looks very similar to your pictures.

EDIT: You do not have the cabin air filter installed, based on your pictures and on the Ford kit I installed...

Regards,
Frank

Open your passenger door. Stand on your head so you see under/behind the glove box. IF you see a plastic cover held in place by 4-5 screws, there it is. If you don't see a screwed down cover/access panel, you don't have a cabin filter.

Hi, I went to ford today to order a cabin air filter kit, and they said it was discontinued jan of 2002. I am wondering if anyone has pics of the kit or can tell me what parts I would need to do this install, because you can order the cover and brackets sepretly still.

I NEEEEEEED those part numbers (please). I was unaware that the stuff was available separately. I've wanted to do that mod for months.

I just had the dealer look up a 2002 f150 heater area schematic, you can see the bottom cover as well as two brackets that hold the cabin filter in place. I do not have the part numbers, but each part was around $35, and you need 3 in total. They also wanted $65 for the filter itself, but I found one at the local auto store for $18, not sure if there is a difference? Let me know if that helps.

The numbers for the cabin air filter set-up are:F65Z-19B736-AA for the cover (list $32.20), F65Z-19871-AA for one of the brackets(list $37.37), F65Z-19871-BA for the other bracket (list $37.28). No screws listed, but that's life. BTW, would anybody that has the kit installed be willing to pull one of the mounting screws out, take a pic and post it? I would like to get as close to correct as possible. Also, does anybody still have the template that came with the kit? Would make it much easier. Thanks.
