A/C Freeze
A/C Freeze
I have noticed recently that after driving my truck for even a short while it drops a lot of water from the A/C. I'm not talking the typical pint or so that I normally see here in Houston. I'm seeing a quart or so pouring out. Not a problem until i drove the truck on a warm day with the A/C on for about an hour. I then begin to notice the air flow from the vents had dropped off quiet a bit. It seems like this thing is freezing up resulting in blocked air flow. The extra water is this big block of frost melting when I park.
Any ideas?
By the way I had the heater core replaced about 6 months ago.

there's a switch or pressure sensor that is supposed to cycle the compressor on and off. On a past car I had, this failed, and the compressor kept the heat exchange process going until the heat exchanger froze. Ice won't let air flow through.
Just a thought.

Find somebody or if you have a AC manifold/gauge set,
check the performance of your system..
An example:
80 degrees outside temp..
Low pressure side should be within 22-45 psi
High pressure side should be within 125-230 psi
Take this info for 80 degree weather only....
Outside temperature has a big say so in the high side pressures.
If it is in this range, then your evaporator core is probably plugged with dirt, etc.
Good Luck and keep me posted!!
