factory radio swap

A buddy of mine gave me his am/fm cd reciever out of his 2010 f150.I still have the base am/fm radio in my 2010 XL.If I buy a reverse wiring harness can I wire in a set of rear speakers?I know that there is no provision for rear speakers on my current radio.

And let me add that I want to install an amplified Bazooka tube behind the passenger seat so that is why I need rear outputs.

I doubt you'll find much info out there on this issue, but for what it's worth, my '09 XL harness is wired for rear speakers even though they are not present.

Based on the extremely skimpy info I've been able to find elsewhere, a 2010 AM/FM/CD player should be a plug-and-play in a 2010 XL, at least for the basic functions. Just be sure to eye it up beforehand, because the higher-trim trucks have an combination radio/heater trim panel (known as an "integrated" radio) as opposed to the "non-integrated" units used on the XL.

The question I've yet to resolve is whether or not the harness runs all the way to the rear of the cab where the speakers would go if they were present.

I don't know how you'd be able to connect an amp without cutting the harness in the dash and installing an amp with a speaker-level input.

Good luck!
