Options for a 97?

I'm a moron when it comes to audio equipment! Ok maybe not that bad but I could use some help. I want to upgrade my factory head unit and speakers on my 97. I don't see myself doing any subs or anything I just want to upgrade to CD and MP3 hookups and get some speakers that don't sound like ****. Can anybody point me to a decent setup in the $200-300 range total? I'll install myself. Thanks

At my shop we sell a variety of brands .. You can look into Polk audio, jbl, or planet audio... They will sound good without breaking the bank..as fas as the head unit goes it just depends on what you want it to do... You can get a nice jvc head unit with USB for about $100.. They are nice for the $$$ hope this helps

Agreed. A friend of mine has an $80 JVC and it does just fine. I had a little $150 Kenwood in my old truck and that was great. You've got a ton of great options

Hop on Crutchfield.com and check out the radios they have. They give you the wiring harness, brackets, surround, and vehicle-specific instructions so that it makes install super easy. The only thing you'll need is some crimp caps or soldering gear and wire strippers.
