receiver kit?

Well the passenger door speaker went out in my 89 f150, but that's not exactly what I have a question about. I figured while I was playing with audio stuff I might as well replace the stock head unit. Question is whether or not I need to get a receiver kit (crutchfield has one from scosche for like $12 or something)? I had to get one for my Grand Prix when I redid the system in that, but the stock gp radios are a din and a half so nothing fits without an adapter lol. Any who thanks in advance for the help!

You might as well since it'll include the wiring harness, which saves a whole lotta time versus soldering all the connections yourself.
