Serious problem....
Well, I accidentally ran my battery dead while listening to music. I called my friend over to jump me off. After he jumped me off, my Pioneer AVH-P6300BT would not get any power. I brought it to the stereo shop where he made sure all the fuses were good (which I had checked before I left). When he pulled out the head unit to test the wires, it came back on. I chalked it up to a bad butt splice in the harness adapter.
Well this weekend, I was on my way somewhere when my head unit would all of a sudden loose power, then a few seconds later come back on. It repeated this about 5 times before finally not coming back on. I decided it was time to re-do the harness adapter. It did not solve the problem.
I went back to the stereo shop where he used a pen to see if the power wire was hot (which it was), and then he told me the unit was broken. I elected to buy another one (might as well upgrade
). I bought a Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS. I got home, connected the stereo plug to the new harness adapter, put in the install kit, then put the stereo in. To my surprise, the stereo still has no power.
What could cause this problem? The factory harness looks and feels fine. It's not an ignition position problem because the unit has NO power. If the plug had power, the screen on my old one would have retracted into the stereo as soon as the ignition wire went dead. Could it be a bad ground at the end of the stereo harness? I'm just wondering if anyone has run into this and could give me some guidance.
