Head Unit Replacement and HARNESS

This seems to be a common issue here, so I'm going to throw another curve ball into the mix.

I am installing a Pioneer Pioneer AVH-X3500BHS deck in my 2010 F150 XLT Supercrew. My truck DID NOT COME WITH SYNC, THX AUDIO, NAVIGATION, OR ANY REAR SEAT ENTERTAINMENT.

I contacted crutchfield, and was told that I need the PAC Ford Radio Replacement Interface. Allows aftermarket radio installation in select 2005-up Ford-built vehicles (model C2R-FRD1)

Keep in mind that I don't have sync or any of the other bells and whistles, just an integrated AM/FM/CD deck with 4 speakers.

This wiring kit is $100 unless you buy the deck from Crutchfield, and then they sell it to you for 50% off. They tell me the following:

"That's needed to retain accessory power. The factory stereo doesn't have a standard accessory power wire going to it."

When I what accessory power, they replied:
"The 12 volt accessory power needed to turn the stereo on and off."

I then stated:
"They didn't include a power wire with the system? seems odd..."
To which they replied:
"It's done through a data line from the cars computer."

Maybe I'm stupid, but there should be a way to install a damn stereo system without involving the truck's computer. 4 speakers and a head unit can't be this involved!!! Any suggestions,or am I stuck buying a $99.99 frikkin wiring harness?

The factory harness does come with a constant 12V power, but the switched 12V power is used in conjunction with the computer (CAN Bus.) You have to tap a fuse from the passenger kick panel fuse box. I did some research and fuse 41 will give you the switched power needed and also allows for the aftermarket HU to stay on after the ignition is off but before the door is open.

I believe the PAC system that crutchfield is trying to sell you is to retain whatever CAN Bus features come with a non-Sync radio, but there really aren't any features in a non-Sync radio that would be worth keeping IMO.

I literally just installed my Pioneer 5500BHS last night and a
Metra BT-5520 Metra BT-5520
harness worked perfectly fine. I think they sell another harness without the bluetooth adapter loop but i had already bought it when i saw the other harness.
