Stereo draining battery?
Stereo draining battery?
I just bought an 05 lariat, it has a 6 cd changer in it and it had some cds jammed in it. Everytime i open the door, even without the key in, the cd player starts up with some weird shifting noises and eventually quits, i figured it was just trying to correct the jammed cd, so i took it upon myself to removed said jammed cd.
When I put the Head Unit back in, the problem kept going on, over the course of about two weeks of having the truck, its battery died. I was just wondering if it's the constantly active stereo that's draining the CD player, or could it possibly be something else?

I recently had a similar problem in my 04 FX4 with the stock 6 disc / radio combo. One day the numbers on display were very dim, but the stereo seemed to work fine. The very next day my battery was dead. After the new battery was installed, I still had the same problem where the stereo display would go from bright to dim. After a couple more days, I came out to another dead battery. So, I pulled the two fuses to the stereo and charged up the battery. So far its been 3 weeks and the battery has been fine. Even went 2 of those weeks without starting the truck and the battery was fine.
Thankfully my wife bought me a new headunit for Christmas, so I should have some tunes by later on today!!.. just had to wait for the install kit from Crutchfield...
