Radio Failure (?)
Radio Failure (?)
I have a 2007 F-150 Lariat. Comfortable (expensive) truck. I chose the truck because of the comfort and driveability it provided. In 2011 the radio completely stopped working. Ford replaced it with an identical, refurbished radio. The radio has now failed again 16 months later and, of course, out of warranty. My dealership explains that thier hands are tied due to the fact that its out of warranty. I understand tires wear out, ball joints fail, brake pads need replacing....but I've never heard of a stereo system failing twice on a $37,000 vehicle with 53,000 miles on it! Does anyone have any advice to guide me if the dealership tells me they can be of no assistance?
Also, I've been told that after-market systems will not work in a vehicle of this type. Only ford stereo's...does this sound accurate?

No after market radios do work in your truck. The only question is which version of the ford radio did/do you have in the truck?? Also what aspect of the radio quit working???
Have you taken out the broken radio from the truck??? If you have might want to check the wires??? For power and ground.

I agree with K.R. ! What exactly went out on the radio? Check the cluster fuse. You can opt for an aftermarket radio. If you have controls on the wheel you will need a wire kit from your local radio shop. That is the only complication you will have with the conversion. The dash kit , Radio, and wire harness. you shouldn't need anything else so don't fall for the scams. Your sound will be louder, clearer, and more functionality when setting your sound. good luck ! Oh I recommend Pioneer. Never failed me yet.
The radio in my 2008 just lost the right side channels and the left side only plays when the ambient temp is above 70 degrees. 1990 Superbird, the volume would go up all by itself. 1995 Mustang GT, CD error and the tuner would randomly change stations.
