Backup Camera Problems

I have my CB radio and backup camera powered by a fuse that gets 12V in accessory mode. I wired my headunit up to a wire running through the passenger door seal that will turn it on when I shift in reverse. But whenever I shift into reverse and my lights are on (headlights or parking lights), my headunit switches over to the camera, but the screen is black. If I turn my lights off, the camera starts showing the image. I can also manually turn on the camera anytime and it won't show an image if I have my lights on. It will sometimes start to show an image if I have my lightson, but it is really flickery and shortly goes completely black. My CB works the whole time and if I turn it off, it makes no difference. Ideas?

Why is the camera getting powered by an accessory wire and not just the backup lights?

What wire did you tag in the passenger door?

connect the power and ground wire for your camera to the ground wire and to the switched 12v wire at the radio, see if that fixes to problem.
also make sure if you connected the orange/white wire on the pioneer plug thats it connected to the illum. circuit not the dimmer circuit

the camera should have 2 wires plus video rca connect the camera power wire to the 12v switched wire at the radio and the camera ground wire to the black wire on the radio also as you know the pioneer's violet/white wire is connected to the reverse wire of the truck.

Thats exactly how I wired mine. I figured that would be easier than finding accessory power somewhere else.

I figured out the problem is something to do with the dimmer/illum circuits. Sometimes at night my headunit thinks my lights are on and other times it thinks they are off, which causes all my A/C controls to not dim either. Whenever it thinks they are on (and everything else is dimmed as well), the camera does not work. But when it is spazzing out and thinking the lights are off, the camera starts working again. I just need to get back there and make sure I have the orange/white connected up correctly. Where is the dimmer circuit and where is the illum circuit?
