Instructions for Head Unit Removal? 09-11 w/ Center Console / No Nav

In the next week or so I plan on wiring up a nice aftermarket system in my new 2011 EB FX2. I am very comfortable and familiar with doing this type of work however, I cant' find any information on how to remove the factory deck.

I found a few threads of those who have XLT's and other types of trucks, but haven't yet found one with the center console. The reason I ask is the A/C vent trim next to the headunit goes all the way to the floor in my truck versus others and of course has the 3.5mm jack and USB port there as well.

My 2005 FX4 w/ console was SUPER easy to remove, but I don't want to take any chances with the brand new truck. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Check on youtube. There is a video by the username of Macaboo. He shows you how to do it.

its pretty easy. the first time is kind of nerve racking because you dont know how much force to use without breaking things. but ive taken mine out so many times in my installation process...its like second nature. lol

I would post the link, but youtube is blocked at my work.

Also follow my link in my signature, and check out my videos for my install. some things have changed since i made the videos but they are a good resource for the new trucks im told.

Here's a video for the sync nav unit....its about the same...its a bit overkill on how much is taken apart....don't take your gauge protector out either

For instance the passenger air bag doesn't need to be removed and niether do the side vent moldings...the side vent moldings only need to be loosened....

Thanks for the info

Blackknight I spent yesterday watching your videos and a few others and that has helped quite a bit. I have no problem doing the install itself, but it's always tricky with a new vehicle you haven't taken apart before

Thank you again
