Ipod Aux Hook-up for 04

Looking to find the best product so i can use my aux button on my stock stereo instead of those ****ty radio freq ones that never sound clear and are just **** in my opinion. I've seen them for sale on classifieds and all over but was wondering if anyone knew the best site/deal to get one. Looking for direct line from ipod to stereo.

thanks ross

you need a PIE converter http://www.amazon.com/PIE-FRD04-AUX-...3062937&sr=8-1
there are two kinds for the ford the FRDR AUX and the FRD04 AUX these plug into the back of your stereo and you need to find someplace to run the cord to - under the dash to the floor, the glove box or there is an aux plug that can be installed to the dash http://www.amazon.com/PAC-iSimple-Mo...3062937&sr=8-7 (need to drill a hole). I am not going to give you advice as to which one you need for your model as I just bought the wrong one myself. The FRDR is 14 pin and the FRD04 is 16 pin (or maybe 24?) but I can tell you if you have the 6 cd in dash player the FRDR is not compatable.

If you have the 6 disc changer with the cassette player, there is an adapter that you can get at walmart that goes into the cassette player and the other end goes into the ipod. This is what my brother has always used and they sound good for the money.

instead of spending almost $100 for an adapter for your stock radio, you can spend just a little more for a new aftermarket radio that had all that built in and more.

I just put in a double din JVC 810 which has:
aux in
ipod control
USB to plug in usb sticks or hard drives.
bluetooth for bluetooth wireless audio and handsfree cellphone speakerphone.
Sounds alot better than stock.
$229

I love the deck. Don't let the display colors in the stock photos scare you, those can all be changed to your liking. The handsfree phone capability works great. The bluetooth streaming works great as well. I hit play on my android phone and the music comes over the speakers in the truck. It even let's me control the music next track/prev track from the radio itself. Regularly listen to pandora, google music and youtube.

Also bought the hd tuner and that works really well.

Very happy. Light years ahead of the stock radio.

Adding an amp and speakers next

yes, this radio will work from factory steering wheel controls with either a pac audio or metra axxess interface module.
