That is a good thing. Watching DVDs while driving is stupid. Might as well text too.

I tried drinking, driving, watching a DVD, and texting but it didn't work for me.

I couldn't hang onto the wheel.

You must have lost your grip when you threw your ciggy butt out the window as well.

That would be a waste of good alcohol. Can't let that happen.

Typical non helpful responses on this subject.

Mote, try using google search or even search youtube. I remember seeing or reading somewhere how to do it with certain units. Whatever aftermarket unit you have search for the unlock for your unit.

Good luck.

Well it's not exactly a crazy thought. I would disable mine too just so my wife could watch the DVD on a road trip. Somehow I think I could find a way to not stare at it.

It is illegal in most (if not all) states. Why should we help him?

Any person who wants to have the distraction of trying to watch a movie when they should be paying attention to the road and Only the road, certainly needs help all right and it isn't with figuring out to hook up his dvd player.
I don't know about you but I sure don't want some simple minded yahoo crashing into me or a loved one and killing somebody all because they were trying to watch a movie while driving..

Dash Nav is more a distraction than a dash dvd player IMO, but they aren't illegal while rolling.

On that note I wired my receiver to play dvd's while driving, but I do not watch them. The function is for the family. I have better things to do than drive and watch a dvd.

Depending on the headunit, there could be a couple reasons to bypass the parking brake wire. On the avic I used to have, bluetooth and navigation as well as dvd were disabled without the parking brake engaged. Kind of a waste to have to park the vehicle to put in your destination instead of plugging it in at a red light.

The only headunits I have done the mod on were Pioneers. Any of the AVH series units either need the parking brake wire grounded out with a switch inline, or grounded out through the use of a 12v automotive relay. Get on youtube and there are tons of videos.

The Pioneer avic units are a little more complicated in that you actually have to unclip one of the wires off the receivers harness and plug it back into another empty slot. Those videos are on youtube as well.
