auxiliary input without aux button or cd player??
auxiliary input without aux button or cd player??
I have read a lot of threads and have not found one which answers the question I have about my 2006 XL:
Is it possoble to create an auxiliary input (for an mp3 player) into the head unit if there is no aux button or cd player? I do not want to use an fm transmitter and I am not interested in buying a new head unit.
Does anyone know if this is possible??

yes, best buy sells a kit to do exactly what you are looking for. I believe it is a hard wired FM Modulator but i promise you it works great i have used it in the past and they work great. iSimple is the brand if i'm not mistaken...hope this helps
Thank you, yes this helps but I have a few questions still:
Does the modulator rely on fm frequencies similar to how the transmitters work? (ex: when driving long distance with transmitter, the stations come in and out and I constantly have to find a new station that allows ipod music to play without static. This is exactly what I am trying to avoid)
Also, did this kit fit hidden behind the head unit?
And finally, is the fm modulator the only option I have (still ruling out requirements from my previous post)?
any of the questions you can answer will be helpful

yes and no the hard wired modulators actually kill the station they are attatched to completely so they never go in and out, yes it fits behind most head units, and as far as i kno yes this i your only option.
I would give these guys a call and see if they have anything that will work. It looks like everything offered is for the radios with satellite or entertainment systems.
