Pioneer System

Ok. So i've been looking around at various systems, and decided to stick with Pioneer because I have enjoyed their products over the years. With this said:

I got a 2000 ford F150 2 Door:

Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD Head Unit. RMS: 22 watts x 4 chan.

Pioneer TS-A6872R x 4 Speakers. RMS: 40 Watts per.

Pioneer TS-SW251 x 2 Shallow Subs. RMS: 150 Watts per.

Pioneer GM-D8500M Amp. RMS: 2 ohms: 600 watts x 1 chan.

Gonna mount the subs in a MTX Thunderform. (Do I need to have shallow subs for this?)

For you experienced folks out there: Does this look like a good setup? Any power problems or anything? Please let me know. I am trying to get feedback before I drop 1k on everything.

Thanks! I am open to any changes or whatever.

I was also looking at the Infinity products. Any thoughts?

from what it sounds, it seems like you have a reg. cab? if you do, then dont bother to get back speakers....theyre gonna be covered up by the sub box anyways and itll be a waste to buy em.

but the rest of your setup sounds good. its nothing super high end but it will be a substantial difference from factory and youll def. be happy with it im sure.

id stick with the shallow subs that way you can maximize your space behind the rear seat.

pioneer has been good to me, with the exception of 1 head unit that i JUST returned the other day. i have had two 4x6s, two 6x9s, four 6x8s, two 760amps(still have one), three 12"subs(still have one), one 8" flat cone sub(still have), and i have now had two head units(only had one for a few days now). the one i returned was the DEH-3100UB, after a month, it all of a sudden would shut off if i touched any button on the faceplate. if i used the remote it would still work 100%. so i returned it and got the DEH-3200UB which is the redesign with red or green illumination. design is better and so far dont have any problems. but the 3100UB i looked online and a few people have had the same problem as me or something close to it. so avoid that one.

yep.. i was talking about a reg. cab because from what the op described, it sounds like its a reg cab truck. therefore its pointless to change out speakers, and then cover them up with a sub box.

Forget rear fill. Get a good set of components upfront.

In our trucks the cab is small, if your in the front you dont hear the back speakers anyway, and besides it only needs to sound good upfront where you the driver/ owner listen to music. If you had a backseat and a shoffer, then you need to put the money in the back...
I think with the standard cabs the subs box might block the rear speakers.

i replaced all of the speakers in my 97 ranger reg cab and the rears were a waste. only thing you get out of them is the bass. and i didnt even have a sub in it. just the fact that they were pointed at the back of the seat and had nowhere for the sound to travel around so you could hear it. and if you are putting subs in then its pointless to put in the rears for that little extra bass when your gonna have a lot of extra bass covering it up. kinda like putting a 12" sub and an 8" sub in(yes i did it). the 12 will overpower the 8 and its pointless to have the 8 in there. if you have an ext cab, then yes you would want to replace them. or if you have a reg cab silverado. my buddy's 04 silverado has the rear speakers right beside your ear. something like that could be replaced since you will actually hear it, but personally i dont like it there, it can give you a headache pretty easily.
