Flip Out In Dash CD/DVD/MP3 Player????

Hey,

I am new to this forum so I figured I would start out with a question like most Newbs do.

I have an 02 F150 FX4 edition and I am looking to upgrade my Head Unit inside. I want to get a C/DVD/MP3 flip out style. I would like to get a Double Din system, but I eventually I want to upgrade mytruck to a newer model. I don't want to do a bunch of Mods if I don't have to.

Here is my question. After doing some research I think I have settled on a Head Unit that I want. The question I have though is when the screen comes out, and flips up, will it hit the lip of the dash that sits atop the radio? Also, with the kit that I purchase, could I just install the radio at the bottom, with the cubby hole on top so when the screen flips up, it wouldn't hit it? Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated. I have searched and searched and can not find any answers to my questions.

Thanks,

Chris

The screen will hit the lip no matter if the pocket is on the bottom or the top. Just make sure whatever HU you purchased has an adjustable angle screen. That way you can set it so it doesnt hit the lip.

Pics in my galleries of a pioneer Avic-N3 in my '01. Has since be replaced by a double din.

What's the chance of the motor going out on a flip screen?

Well, after doing some extensive research and looking at all of my options and talking to a few local car audio installation guys, I finally got the head unit I was looking for. I went with a double din system. I got the Jensen VM 9223. I wanted something that was relatively cheaper now, and then I could expand it later on down the road. I plan on getting the Nav system for it in a couple of months, and maybe expand the screens to the back of my headrest.

Either way I am very happy with the install and the way it all turned out. The unit looks sick in my truck. I am glad I went with the double din vice the flip out screen. Thanks to all who posted and gave me some insight.
